The story of a photographer

A born artist and creative, photography made its way into my story when I was in high school. I felt like a magician being able to freeze moments in time and my abuela's downward spiral with Parkinson's Disease and dementia made me realize how important those moments really were. I decided to make photography my full-time career at the tender age of 16, and by 19, I was photographing weddings, families, and humanitarian efforts in Kenya. My heart gravitated to telling stories around the world which led me to a full time position that brought me to Haiti on a consistent basis. To this day, Haiti is the unassuming gem I have traveled to and from most in this world. But alas, it was a challenge to make it in the non-profit world. There was a lot of heart but not a lot of money and God's plans led me through a string of 9-5 job opportunities. All had their purpose, joys, and lessons, but none were as fulfilling as being a storyteller. So here I am, I don't know what this chapter is called yet, but I sense a comeback.

“Alexis was not just our photographer during our wedding weekend, she felt like one of our closest friends celebrating with us. I loved all the moments she captured, but the most memorable moment was her impromptu suggestion during our first look. There was a bar across the street and Alexis suggested we grab a drink. She captured the first moment of reprieve after the building anticipation of that first look. We were so lucky to have had not just her talent but her thoughtfulness to truly capture "us".”
